Gene Seymour: We don't have great data on attention span over time, but we do have really good data on reading. He says high school seniors are all less likely to read for pleasure than they used to. 60% of 12 graders used to read a book magazine or newspaper every day that wasn't for school; now it's 15%. Seymour: This is not a trend that started with Gen Z. But this is clearly the way things have moved is toward shorter, less complex and less attention span.
