Is This Balloon Episode Affecting Xi Jinping?

There's been some discussion about the possibility of Xi Jinping's position being not quite as strong as it was immediately following the 20th party Congress. I don't think that this incident will negatively affect his standing with the Chinese public. If anything, the fact that China is doing reconnaissance over the United States will actually improve his standing. The really big question for us to consider is what happens when the next balloon encroaches on a US airspace? We may still have problems tracking things. Are we going to shoot it down at the earliest identification and location or see where it goes?
