In 1069 Edgar Gosspatrick and his allies knew that their best chance for independence to lay in the north. It was reassuringly distant from Normandy as well as within the reach of Malcolm and Scotland. William had other things on his mind and couldn't react straight away. The Sons of Harold again raided the south-west from Ireland but were eventually driven off. Despite my grand assertion that we'd come to the end of the Viking age in 1066 with the death of Harold Hadrada the dain seemed to lap that kind of 2020 hindsight so they continued to think that they could roll back time and relive the days of Knud the Great.
