The Fed's Next Move: Wage Inflation
On Friday, the Labor Department released its non-form payroll report. The headline number was slightly better than expected with 236,000 net new jobs created in March. But that's a big step down from the 226,000 new jobscreated in February. This was the weakest job creation's been since December of 2020. And this isn't a number that will make the Fed back off.
