It is certainly worthy of comment that, given an opportunity to rule out a peerage for an m p who's resigned in abject disgrace, the primator spokesman elected not to offer any guarantee that that wouldn't happen. Which has led to some speculation, which you've no doubt heard, that he might have been encouraged to walk the plank with the promise of a peerage at the end of it. And then another dimension is added when you are busted for breaking the rules - and like shaggy when he was caught getting jiggy on the bathroom floor, you just deny it completely. You so tat wasn't me. Or you say, i have done absolutely nothing wrong
