The Importance of Early Access Games

I think we're seeing some games coming out in these early access forms where they're entirely too incomplete. I don't understand how someone becomes a fan of something so incomplete. If I had been able to throw money at the last Guardian back in 2009, I would have just emptied my wallet. It's still be sitting on all of those dollars and you have no game.
