The Impact of Affirmative Action in America
In the seventies, ther i was like this. Commission just sat down and sort of randomly decided how to categorze people. As things tend to work, our interest groups coalesced around them. People started to identify with them both for political purposes and in their own lives. Rihtdand now people start thinking of themselves as being hispanic, at least in some way as being aasian or native American. No one is frozen because the interscript have coalesced. And its frozen because the most important area wit these classifications are really meaningful as affirmative action. The court has come within a hair's breadth of invalidating it several times and may well do so this fall.
