The Great Financial Crisis
I beg to disagree on your interpretation of the Great Financial Crisis. I think that the supply mortgage crisis started in the private sector with private labels, and only much later arrived to Fannie and Freddie. If there was a separation between investment and commercial banking, some of the major banks were not being implicated in massive security tradeings. The government actively promoted a reduction in the standard for lending as part of a housing policy.
