Many artists and poets over the centuries have imagined London as a place in which we as mere passes through are also at risk of or liable to be encountering a claim on us that may even be a divine claim. So this imagination of the city is a place where theophany might happen, that's to say that the sudden and unexpected revelation of God's presence in the heart of the city. Again, that changes the way we relate to it. And potentially a place of religious encounter.
