Jim Jones started recruiting those people who had become disillusioned with society, educated people who wanted something more fair and just. The black members needed help and they got it. And in the process, they became a truly integrated community. But even though the people who came with Jones had devotion, the one thing they didn't have was money. A lot of them sold their houses and gave all of the money they made to people simply moved naturally. So Jim Jones shifted his recruiting pool from black and poor to rich and white.
