Bosnian Moslems and the Ottoman Empire

Bosnians have called themselves bo nachi, or basnia. For centuries, this differentiated them from non moslem basnians and non basnian moslems living in basnia. The ottoman government, however, refer to everyone living inbasnia as basnia regardless of their religious affiliation. During the communist era of theni ten sixties, the term basna fell out of use, only to be revived again in the 19 nineties.
