The Role of Women in the Economy of American Slavery
In the southern United States, slavery was an aspect of everyday life. You could literally walk down a street and see enslaved people being bought and sold. So I was really interested in how I could kind of shore up this idea that women were deeply invested in the economy of American slavery. A longer story that stuck with me into this day sticks with me was what I call the rocking chair incident.
