What Is Shihi's Al-Mahati?
The Shihi's formed a unique community based around these worldly and spiritual leaders of the imam. This was before there was anything like a clear distinction between Sunni and Shih but they distinguished themselves from many other Muslims at the time. Some view the early period as one of strict legalism which later became influenced by esoteric currents while many today emphasize that the esoteric aspects were in place basically from the beginning.
