Is There a Link Between Sugar Quote Unquote and Heart Disease?
A new long-term study of more than 25,000 adults in Sweden found that people with the lowest overall intake of added sugar actually had the highest risk of atrial fibrillation and aortic stenosis. People who ate sweet foods only a couple times a week had thehighest risk of stroke, coronary events, and atrial fibillation compared to people who ate sweets more often. When it comes to the link between sugar intake and diabetes prevention, all of the same issues we've been discussing here still apply. But the evidence is even spotier than the evidence on cardiovascular disease in sugar.
