Habad - A History of Judaism
A habad is probably the biggest. A leader emerged in lithuania who was named a shneur zalman of liadi. And so he formed a sort of hibrid, you could say, compromise form of hasidism that still emphasized the importance of study. It was more intellectual. They largely moved to america, especially to brooklyn. The seventh rebi became very famous, manah mende shnirsen, who was very revered among habad,. He was the rebi of that group from the fifties till he died in 19 94.
