The Art of Screenwriting
All fiction is essentially about the control of information and how painlessly or painfully you release it. The whole art of screenwriting more than anything is to give information without seeming to give the pain of giving info. Most thrillers are pretty disappointing in that last 20 pages whereas they're intriguing when you don't know what's going on so the whole art of ending things is somehow not to disappoint with what it is at the end Glenda Jackson and Nicole Williamson were in Dundee Rep in the 1960s in an agatha Christie-style murder mystery play. They improvised every night by having different actors kill each other, then invent a reason for their actions.
