The Soviet Union and the End of the Cold War

I don't think necessarily that the er, the g political end of the cold war. I think that still very likely could have happened because of these these pressures that i have been talking aboutbasely,. The west had a great deal of leverage over eastern block countries by 19 87, 88. And many in the soviet union were no longer interested or willing to kind of protect their allies from those pressures. So i do think that process of using democracy as a way to impose or gain a cent for neo liberal reform, which is the kind of key logic of the book, that was what was driving events in 19 89 as well.
