The Blue Stockings, by Fanny Burney
Fanny berney was part of what's called the second generation am. She apparently burnt all her writings at the age of 15 because she wasn't sure that she could cope with the implications of her intellectual energies. Several women of this period, sarah scott, the sister of elizabeth montague, jane austen, indeed are left strict instructions for many of their writings to be burnt at the point of death.
