Is There a Case for Raising Inflation Targets?
One of the immediate reactions to the invasion was a very sharp increase in commodity prices, especially oil. But what's happened since the autumn, I would say from certainly the autumn, we've seen commodity prices moderate quite considerably. That initial impulse to headline inflation has also had a chance to moderate as well. Sergio Taholta asks if there is a case for central banks and advanced economies to raise their inflation targets. Jan: There are huge benefits of having low inflation because it tends to be self-stabilizing. And this is something that would need to be addressed.
