The idea of hypothesis testing is that when you standardize this variable, you are now able to test whether this particular observation happened just by chance, or it was actually a reoccurring event. So in the case that i said walking equals ten, you oud need data on your previous well of cours. I wouldn't, i would need data, but i'm saying with this, no, i wouldn't need the mean, and i wouldt need my understandintdata. With more observations, you always get more accurate data.
