The Dangers of SV11 Mutation
A professor at Stanford had recently figured out a way to take a virus called SV11, which caused cancer in hamsters, and inserted into a very common bacterium. It was the first time that humans had ever been able to mix species of any kind. We didn't know at the time whether or not it was going to be possible for that to mutate into something that somebody could sneeze and catch.
