The Lord's Commission to Isaiah
The fiery presence of the Lord that had earlier terrified Isaiah does not destroy but cleans him, purging him of his guilt and atoning for his sin. The next thing that we hear is the Lord's voice, presumably addressing the assembly of the divine counsel: whom shall I send? Oswald helpfully articulates the progressive development of this scene. Each element leads to the next.
