Maximum Rock and Roll: A History of Scarcity

In the early 90s, maximum rock and roll could function like sort of as a Craigslist and a Facebook too. People would write in with a so-called scene report to explain what bands were getting together or breaking up in your city. I think people shouldn't underestimate the role that scarcity played in this world. It was just hard to find out about stuff. And it was hard to get stuff. But Green Day becomes kind of like the figurehead for the band that used to be nurtured by this fiercely do-yourself punk subculture.
