Rhodesian military strength was low, hobbled by international embargoes which prevented them from obtaining most weapons. Unlike other British colonies, the Rhodesians had developed an advanced industrial base and so were able to make quite a few of their own weapons. More importantly, perhaps, they developed a very aggressive strategy using air assets to locate, confront, and destroy bands of marauders inserted across their borders.
