Quantum Information Mediums and Their Counterfactual Properties
Reversibility in physics usually refers to the possibility of reversing a transformation. A photon, when it behaves in a quantum way, must have the counterfactual property that all transformations allowed on it can be reversed. The smallest unit of quantum information is a quantum bit, a qubit. Photons, electrons and other elementary particles can all be used as qubits. Perfect qubits are hard to come by in everyday life because accurate reversibility is extremely difficult to achieve in practice. It also constitutes the crucial difference between the classical unpredictability of a coin toss and the quantum unpredictability, arising with quantum superpositions.
