The Mind, the Weaver of Illusion

He goes on to say, quote, the solid substance of things is another illusion. It too is a fancy projected by the mind. We have chased the solid substance from the continuous liquid to the atom and there we have lost it. The actuality has been lost in the exigent exigencies of the chase. He also says that exploration of the external world by the methods of physical science leads not to a concrete reality, but to a shadow world of symbols beneath which those those methods are unadapted for penetrating. But what do the symbols stand for? My mysterious reply is that, given that physics is indifferent, is the messer.
