The Backward Causality of Economic Growth
Economists have thought that creating more pieces of paper has made society wealthier over time. The idea is that we print more units of money and now that money can direct it at whatever they want, which happens to mostly be the military industrial complex. But as I said before, that money is just being redistributed. It's not necessarily creating any real social benefit when you kind of think of the costs of having taken that away from other people.
