Yom Kippur-Sless is one of the most significant Jewish holidays. The word N'inve means "no man or beast" and refers to a total disavowal of all bodily functions, says Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. In order for people to have same degree of repentance as leaders, someone has to apply ashes to their farheads; it's more embarrassing if they don't do it themselves. Yom Kipper absolves sins within you and God, but then since within you and your fellow man, you have to do it yourself, he adds.
