The Effects of a Laser on Lightning
A powerful laser that is pointed towards the sky can redirect lightning bolts away from important infrastructure and have them strike other places. A team of researchers led by a really in Howard tested a laser on the santis mountain in switzerland in 2021 to see if they could successfully use it to intercept and redirect lightning strikes. The experiment was conducted using electromagnetic waves emitted by the lightning as well as increased detection of x-ray bursts to find the location of the strikes. i'm not saying that they're using these systems to start fires in canada i'm just trying to provide some sort of information for people who see this sort of thing, says Howard.
