When you play these other games, you may see mechanics that are fun and exciting and different. Before you just lift them out and try to use them in D&D, you have to remember that these are different, very different systems. So if you do pick up mechanics from other games, totally try them. But just think about it through. Think it through how it's actually going to work with the mechanics and the rules of D&D as opposed to the rules and mechanics of the game that you took it from.
