The Importance of Extremes in Deep Sea Exploration

I think there is some emphasis on extremes. And I mean, I guess that's the thing is like the Marianna trench scientifically, there's not a lot of value as Tiffany was saying to sitting down there because there's no seavents, there's no life down there and it's completely dark. Being able to set the record to do the hardest thing, that is something that I think they really want to showcase that part of the science and technology. All of China's deep sea initiatives are state funded. So there aren't really private interests that are competing in this space. If you only have state directed innovation, you know, you can miss out on potential developments.
