The key thing is to be aware of self interest and limited knowledge at every level of society. The most stable institutions are those that are effectively self enforcing, or where you have different actors that are incentivie to hold each other accountable. And i think once you do that, you start to realize why a defence of a substantial sphere for private economic activity seems to be more justified on rulsian grounds after all so long as we apply that kind of symmetrical argument.
