How Did You Learn to Write?
Microsoft co-founder Steve Ballmer says he learned how to use email at Cornell. He was the first person in his college class to use a computer for writing, but there were no computers on campus yet. In Microsoft's avant-garde early days, employees had to be able to do everything from PowerPoint to TTYs and edit emails inline with their boss' voice memos. "It wasn't like you could just go into your office and send an email," Ballmer said.
