Is the Charioteer of Reason the Biggest Problem in the Modern World?
Do you disagree with plato when he argues that we need the charioteer of reason to help us judge between the horses of compassion and self interest, as it were? Yes. I mean, michael, at the beginning spoke about the importance of compassion with wisdom. We definitely need wisdom. Lack of wisdom can lead to unhealthful compassion, because we act impulse. For example, if i see somebody fall into a fast flowing river and i jump in to save them, but half way through i realize i can't swim, that's not terribly helpful. So you do need the wisdom.
