Is Duckweed the Fastest Growing Plant?

Duckweed, Wolfia, is the fastest growing plant known able to double its mass in as little as 16 hours under optimal conditions. Scientists are trying to figure out why they grow so fast and can we replicate this in like crops? They wanted to know what genes are responsible for allowing them to grow so quickly. The entire plant consists of like a stem fused to a leaf, basically. So it's just one little green thing that floats on top of the water.
