What's the New Counter-Messaging?

I think the left is floundering in talking about crime. The right gets to take up crime as their issue and get to call for law and order. And the left's response is to a, say, that's racist, which it often is. It often is a racist dog whistle talking about crime but that's the left kind of go-to response. Working class people are more likely to care about things like climate change or racial justice than upper middle class people.
