Pray, Hope and Don't Worry
Prayer is a petition. It's a virtuous thing offer petitions to god. So we shouldn't be worried about offending god by praying. But even more importantly, i think we should simply ask for what we desire. And this is why saint thomas thinks that confidence is one of the defining characteristics of christian prayer. We should trust that god will educate our desires as we remain in dialogue with him.
