The Big Robespierre Mistake Is to Change the Legitimation
I think it's always very difficult to try to change both the substance of what you're doing and the legitimation narrative, which gets people to accept what you do at the same time. It's like being Wiley Coyote running off a cliff and trying to construct pylons underneath you as you are. We need more stylistic conservatism to tie to substantive radicalism because if we don't have a style that attends to what people are comfortable with right here and now, then we're never going to get through alternative substantial measures. At the end of the day, it's the substance that will change the world, not the style.
