The Danvers State Hospital
The Danvers State Hospital was actually intended to be a beacon of hope. The site that was chosen for the construction was the former homestead of John Hawthorne, one of the nine magistrates who oversaw the witch trials of Salem in 1692. Looking back over the last century and a half, it's clear that Hawthorne's legacy lived on atop that hill.
