A Quick Tip for a Person to Regulate Their Nervous System
The first thing I do when I'm criticized by any human on my game is I do an intentional breathing grounding exercise. Instead of being triggered, I eat, regressed to a younger state where I didn't know how to deal with the intense emotion. The fastest one I know is five really deep breaths where the exhale is twice as long as the inhale. And then I use my imagination and imagine if someone who is going to pay me a billion dollars to articulate a thesis about why I'm an extraordinary human, woman, mother. What the hell would I say? Then I do it. And I can come up with really great stuff when I basically put myself in a situation where
