I Don't Understand Severance. It's Optics, Right?
In the United States severance is totally optional. It's like, we don't have the money to keep you hired anymore. We're going to keep paying you for half a year. I don't get it. People think it's obvious. They expect severance. Why should you get severance when you're fired? You just don't know if that was actually a break even or not. And this is why it's incredibly thought provoking even your hiring process,. Because as you said, it was very costly to fire somebody. From all aspects of it, both tangible and intangible.
