Putting Freedom at the Centre of Our Politics

Alex gorevitch writes about how labor radicals in the early nineteenth century began to articulate a notion of republican freedom, that's small are republican. How would we then conceive of justice as not just a matter of breaking up and constraining corporate power above, but also of building up worker power from below? New language obviously won't save us, and it won't win any particular action or any particular strike. But as the left builds power in this country, we must also recast how we describe both the world as it exists and the world that we are fighting to create. Putting freedom at the centre of our politics might be way to do that.
