Will Public Attention to AI Make AI Safer?
As we see more capable AI systems, do you expect us to also see more and more public attention? Or will public attention lack behind and only come in right at the very end? Both. Do you think that this will on net be a positive or negative? So will public attention to AI make AI safer? At the current point, I see it as positive. This is not obvious. It could still go negative very easily. And for me, the writing is on the wall. Just people are just creating towards the abyss. If no intervention happens, if nothing changes, they will just go straight off that anything's. There's many ways in which they can make things worse.
