In verse 17, they say only the lord thy god be with thee as he was with moses. It's a repetition of what god himself had promised joshua,. Ining of the chapter, i was with m Moses, i'll be with you. And now the people are praying for the same thing. Oh, joshua, as long as god is with you in all things, then what can stop us? Of course we'll follow.
