Pike's Journey to the Mississippi River
Pike and his men set out in January 1806 to find the source of the Mississippi River. They ran into a group from British fur training company, the Northwest Company. Pike would eventually travel around the area in a sleigh with McGillis learning as much as he could about the company's plans. He also interviewed trappers and traitors and Indians that he came upon. In this time, Pike took many notes and made many observations, and some of those observations disturbed him.
