The Lust for Data
The lust for data, or even the lust for knowledge, is an apt description. Thomas says that it belongs to temperance, the virtue of temperance, to moderate the movement of the appetite. So why do you want knowledge? Is it to flex? Is to canyou get one over on your neighbor? Or is it because you ultimately want to know god? Those are really the three options in thomas. And the first two are going to lead you to curiositas. It's only the third one that's going to be a virtuous pursuit of knowledge. Ya.
