The Protection of the Semantic of the Hebrew Verb Lemma
T-Gays: The Hebrew verb, however, does not mean Passover. Most of the ancient translations are older than the Vulgate and render it as sparing or protected. This rendering is supported by the way the verb is used in Isaiah 31, verse 5. Like birds hovering, says T-Gays, so the Lord of hosts will protect Jerusalem. He will protect and deliver it.
