The Importance of Private Ownership in a Digital Space

I spend my physical day largely around spaces and or objects that I own. And for some reason, we haven't been able to articulate that this is just as important that you can have private ownership and public commons in a digital space. It's not that credit-suite owns it and lets me use it on terms they decide. I own it. By owning it, there are a variety of risks to me and others. You're a unsecured creditor to City Bank who gets to use their servers at their discretion. The same is true in gaming. TheSame is true in social media. Same is true in office productivity apps.
