The Relationship Between Humans and Gods
In the ancient world, one of the key kind of understandings of the relationship between humans and gods was the idea that this was a social relation. And how do you have a social relationship with an imaginary being? Well, you know, you give them the kinds of bodies and characteristics and tendencies that we havea humans. That's what kind of binds us together. To worship the gods is exactly the same as serve the gods in that sense - like body attendants.
