The core logic of whatever you're orchestrating needs to be very, very separate from the platform on which it is running. People have religions around this particular area. I find that I find that teams who are doing reasonable scale development that have a small smallish team really should be focusing more than anything on their own personal productivity. The researchers productivity the researchers ability to execute enough experiments without getting blocked by unnecessary complexities. If you design your code correctly and you don't get too attached to particular features in your orchestration tool then there's no reason not to go with Kubernetes or Docker containers.
